Reegretted Painting
(Originally, "Gateway Egret")
First I did a painting I called, Gateway Egret. I signed it, put it in my catalogue, and hung it. Did a few other paintings. Looking at it, I wasn't really satisfied with the egret. It looked more like a duck or a goose than an egret. But the painting is oil, and reegrettable. I studied Google pics of egrets, and then I reegretted the egret, without regret. I also worked more on the background, adding depth, the reflections, etc. I'm much happier with this work now. Hey, if I were going for a duck and had painted an egret, then I would have had to redux the painting instead of reegretting one! (snare drum roll with cymbol crash)
The original, unreegretted painting is below, and the reference photo is below that. |
I didn't look at the ref photo when I did the repainting, and I'm glad I didn't because I like my painting more than I like the original photo - which I liked a lot, or I would not have painted it! |
